Classical music fans are in for a rare treat next week when the world-renowned Chamber Philharmonic plays at St Mary’s Church of Ireland in Killarney on August 5.

The ensemble, made up of selected members of the 300-strong orchestrafrom the German city, is famous for its ability to mix well-known composers like Mozart and Bach with complete unknowns.

They are the artists in residence at Mercedes Benz World in the city and often perform for the car brand’s important customers.

“Classical music the world over. This is the motto of the Chamber Philharmonic Cologne,” Jens Kehling, Press Officer, said. “It is irrelevant for our musicians whether they are playing in a little village church, in the open air, in Cologne Cathedral or in the Sydney Opera House – their enthusiasm to play music is the same every time.”

A diverse programme ranging from Antonio Vivaldi and his famous "Concerto grosso D Minor" to CPE Bach, WA Mozart and Camille Saint-Saens will feature in the Bank Holiday Monday night concert.
