Civic reception for Jessie edging closer to reality
By Sean Moriarty
Just two hurdles stand in the way of Kerry County Council affording a Civic Reception for Jessie Buckley.
The Muckross native was nominated for an Oscar and a BAFTA as Best Supporting Actress following her performance in ‘The Lost Daughter’. She recently also received an Olivier Award for her part in London stage performance 'Caberet'.
Mayor Marie Moloney is keen to recognise Buckley’s achievements in her home town and has been pushing Kerry County Council to hold a Civic Reception in her honour.
“There is no problem with the Civic Reception, they [Kerry County Council] have a backlog of receptions to do [following the pandemic] and they are looking at what is the best way to do them. My biggest problem is catching Jessie at home,” Cllr Moloney told the Killarney Advertiser.
