Christy Moore sets toes tapping in Killarney

CHRISTY MOORE was the headline act of the hugely popular Folkfest Killarney which struck all the right notes at the weekend with a melodic mix that thrilled music lovers of all ages.
Christy was playing his only Irish festival date this year when he performed on Saturday. Of his long association with Killarney, the artist said: “I have played the INEC annually and back in the '80s and '90s I used to play weekly in The Gleneagle.”
The festival opened at the INEC on Friday and the singing and dancing continued right up until Sunday with an all-star line-up delighting their audiences.
Among those performing at Killarney for the festival were exciting Irish singer song-writer Marc O’Reilly and Dingle songstress, Pauline Scanlon; Scullion, The Waterboys (who were performing their only Irish gig this year), Little Green Cars, We Banjo 3, Iarla O Lionáird, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Damien Dempsey, the Mick McGoldrick Band with just announced The Young Folk, In The Willows, and Kerry based musicians Karrie O’Sullivan, Seven Glens, Méabh Begley and Matt Griffin, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and Gerry O’Beirne and Séamus Begley and Friends.
