Calls for urgent attention to Cardiac Hill steps
Local councillor Marie Moloney has called on the National Park and Wildlife Service to take immediate action to address safety concerns on the steps of Cardiac Hill.
At the recent Killarney Municipal District meeting Cllr Moloney expressed her concern about the current state of the steps, highlighting the need for additional safety measures and maintenance. While some barriers have been erected in certain areas, she highlighted that these efforts are insufficient and more comprehensive measures are required.
"The steps on Cardiac Hill are a popular walking route for both locals and tourists, but the current condition poses a risk," said Cllr. Moloney. "We need to ensure that the steps are safe and accessible for everyone."
The councillor urged the National Park and Wildlife Service to expedite the implementation of safety measures, including extending the barriers along the entire length of the steps and clearing away any overgrown vegetation.
"By taking these steps, we can make Cardiac Hill a safer and more enjoyable experience for all," added Cllr. Moloney.
