Calling all Killarney Great Southern Hotel staff
&
EXCLUSIVE
By Sean Moriarty
Former staff at the Great Southern Hotel are organising a reunion of all those who worked at the landmark hotel up to 2006.
‘The Great Get Together’ will be held at the Dromhall Hotel on March 28 next year.
An organising committee has been set up and Kathy Brosnan has been elected as chair.
Originally from Sligo, she has been running the Applecraft Bed and Breakfast in Woodlawn for many years. Prior to going out on her own she worked as a waitress in the Great Southern Hotel from 1979 until 1985.
“This just had to be done,” she told the Killarney Advertiser. “In my time there it was like one big family. We are hoping to bring as many people together – that is why we called it ‘The Great Get Together’ – and it’s open to anyone who worked there before it was sold into private hands.”
The evening will begin with a remembrance service followed by wine reception, dinner, music and storytelling.
Tickets are €60 and available to reserve by emailing gshkillarneyreunion@gmail.com or by calling Emer Corridon on 087 1240046.
“Tickets are strictly for past staff members, the event is not open to the public,” added Kathy.
