By Sean Moriarty
TV star and children books author, Australian wildlife expert Dale Treadwell paid a visit to Kilcummin National School last week as part of the Heritage in Schools national project.
Dale is a regular visitor to schools all over Ireland where he passes on his boundless enthusiasm for all things in the world of nature to children.
Dales visits introduce children to the five Bs of Biodiversity: bugs; butterflies; bees; bats and birds through interactive, fun and hands-on activities.
“We were thrilled to welcome Dale Treadwell to Kilcummin, “ said Gillian Sheehan, “Dale presented a series of outdoor science lessons to each class. We visited our beautiful local park, Páirc an Phobail, for lots of outdoor fun. We were thrilled to have an opportunity to listen to Dale reading his own published stories and we had great fun examining lots of insects with magnifying glasses. It was a great day.”
Dale has worked with the Australian National Parks and Wildlife Service and presented on childrens’ television in Ireland for 10 years.
He is also the author of ‘Harry the Hedgehog will you be my friend?’ and ‘Robby the Christmas Robin’. A third book will be launched ahead of the Christmas market.
