Athletic U12s become first non-Dublin team to win DBS Cup

The Killarney Athletic U12s sampled glory on the national stage last weekend when they became the first non-Dublin side to win the DBS Sports Cup.
The Blues were on top form in the capital and they defeated Lions AFC (Laois), Cabinteely (Dublin), Wicklow and Freebooters (Kilkenny) en route to the final.
St Kevin's Boys, one of Dublin's premiere schoolboy clubs, provided very stern opposition in the decider but the Killarney lads did their club proud by putting in a superb team performance. Cillian Coffey was the hero in the end as his goal secured a memorable 1-0 win and Athletic brought the DBS Cup outside of Dublin for the very first time.
