The Killarney Salmon and Trout Angling Club held its annual prize-giving night on Saturday, at the Killarney Avenue Hotel, where members gathered to celebrate another successful year on the lakes and rivers of Killarney.

The club’s Juvenile Angler for 2025, Ian O’Leary, received the Scruffy’s Cup, presented by Club Juvenile Officer Frank O’Sullivan and Club Chairman D.J. O’Riordan.

Dermot Mahoney was the standout performer over the season, taking home two major awards the John Mannix Cup for the heaviest trout caught in competition this year and the Paddy O’Sullivan Cup for landing the heaviest fish across both the Killarney Salmon and Trout and Lough Lein clubs in 2025.

In the team category, the honours went to The Grumpy Old Men, sponsored by Tom Dennehy.
Despite the team name, there were smiles all around as members Anthony Griffin, Tim O’Connor, and John O’Callaghan (standing in for Tom Dennehy) accepted the trophy from Owen Casey, representing the Casey family, alongside Club Chairman D.J. O’Riordan.
