An Post to Monsignor O’Flaherty commemorative stamp
An Post will issue a special commemorative stamp to mark the centenary of the ordination of Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty.
The decision follows a proposal made by the Hugh O’Flaherty Memorial Society in 2023.
The official issue date for the stamp is yet to be confirmed but is expected in late October.
The final stamp design will be unveiled closer to, or on, the issue date and will be a "W" stamp, suitable for worldwide mailing, reflecting Monsignor O’Flaherty's global story.
It will be available in selected Post Offices for at least three months from its issue date, with some offices potentially holding stocks longer. The stamp will also be available online at An Post's website (https://www.anpost.com/Shop/Special-issue-stamps) for a year from the issue date.
A specially designed ‘First Day Cover Envelope’ will also be available online.
This marks the second stamp issue this year commemorating a Kerry man, following the recent stamp for the 250th Anniversary of Daniel O’Connell’s birth.
The Hugh O’Flaherty Memorial Society expressed its delight with An Post's decision to honour the Monsignor's ordination.
