American orchestra plans Killarney concert

The New England Irish Harp Orchestra will play in concert at St Mary’s Church on May 6.
This is the second time the orchestra will play at the venue. In 2014 it attracted one of the biggest audiences ever at the town centre church.
Based near Boston in the United States, the orchestra has been performing for over 19 years under the direction of Regina Delaney.
Delaney trained in Ireland and is no stranger to these shores, having very strong connections with ‘The Gathering Festival’ in Killarney in 2013 and others.
“The Orchestra performs throughout New England traditional and contemporary Irish and American music. Working with many Irish harps, fiddles, and bodhráns, the orchestra weaves tunes and songs for a magical performance and a celebration of the Irish Harp,” said local organiser Tim O’Shea.
Next Saturday’s concert takes place at 8pm and will be followed by another performance at the St John’s Church of Ireland in Tralee on Sunday.
