AHAR among listed tax defaulters in county
&
Animal Heaven Animal Rescue is among 12 Kerry businesses and individuals who were named on Revenue’s latest tax defaulters’ list.
The animal welfare, which has been shrouded in controversy, has been fined a total of €130,000 for the under-declaration of PAYE and other wage-related discrepancies.
Earlier this year an investigation by Revenue raised “serious concerns” over €150,000 that was paid out in cash by the animal welfare charity over two years, without any receipts or records.
An audit by Revenue officials has found that AHAR owes over €130,000 in tax for the years 2015 and 2016.
In March this year, AHAR’s operations and assets were taken over by the Athlone and West Midlands Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Athlone SPCA).
