Killarney’s underground speakeasy bar, Pig’s Lane, is set to welcome one of Ireland’s most celebrated bars for a one-night-only takeover. On Thursday, November 21, the acclaimed CASK team, known for their innovative ‘farm-to-glass’ cocktails, will bring their award-winning craft cocktail experience to the Killarney hotspot.

The Cork crew, led by mixology visionary Andy Ferreira, has earned multiple prestigious accolades, including Best Cocktail Bar in Ireland in 2022 and Ireland’s Bar of the Year two years in a row. Known for drawing inspiration from Ireland’s rich natural landscape, CASK’s cocktails showcase the best of wild, seasonal ingredients with flavours sourced directly from local flora in a root-to-flower approach.

In what promises to be an unforgettable evening, guests at Pig’s Lane will have the chance to taste a selection of Cask Cork’s signature cocktails featuring quality blends from Diageo in celebration of the takeover.
Using their artisanal approach of uncovering extraordinary tastes and crafting one-of-a-kind drinks, expect vibrant yet bold classics that highlight unique, local ingredients. Showcased on the night will be the opulent ‘Hunters Flip’ featuring Roe & Co Whiskey, fat washed with Ballinwillin wild boar and quail egg, alongside ‘Ball Hoppin’, a juicy yet fruity concoction of Don Julio Tequila, sweet potato and smoked sea salt.
The versatile drinks menu at Pig’s Lane will also be available throughout the event, ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The event coincides with Killarney’s Christmas Dine in Killarney festivities, adding even more excitement to an already highly anticipated evening. Everyone is invited to the event, no tickets needed. It all kicks off at 8pm with DJ Darren Kelly setting the mood with smooth, upbeat tunes.

.Two-time World Championship Mixologist and Drinks Development Manager for the O’Donoghue Ring Collection and Pig’s Lane, Ariel Sanecki said:
“We are really excited to have Andy and his incredible team join us for this exclusive takeover. CASK are renowned for their unique approach to curating hyper-local cocktails, bringing out extraordinary flavours in every blend. Guests are in for a real treat on what promises to be an epic evening in the midst of Killarney’s Christmas Dine in Killarney series”.

Pig’s Lane, the first underground venue in Kerry, boasts a curated cocktail menu with innovative local ingredients, bespoke organic wines, a hidden whiskey parlour with over 300 whiskeys, a snacks and light bites menu boasting local provenance and eclectic live music, all set in a beautifully crafted subterranean bar.

Glamour and glitz were the order of the day as students from St Brendan’s College cut a dash at their annual Debs ball on Monday.

Students gathered for a stylish pre-debs reception at St Brigid’s before being whisked off to the Ballyroe Heights Hotel in Tralee, where celebrations continued long into the night.
As much a coming-of-age celebration as the end of an era, the occasion marked the students’ final act together following six years at the town centre college.
With Leaving Certificate results looming, the Class of 2026 now prepares to take their next steps, whether heading off to third-level education, beginning apprenticeships, or entering the workforce. Whatever path they choose, we wish them the very best in all their future endeavours.

Kilcummin man opens New Zealand pub

A Kilcummin native living in New Zealand is appealing to the Kerry community for genuine local memorabilia to decorate his new Irish pub and deli on the other side of the world.

Cian Curtin and his wife are currently fitting out The Snug, a new venture located in New Brighton, a seaside suburb of Christchurch. By day, the venue will operate as a deli serving Irish staples such as breakfast rolls, chicken fillet rolls, home-made soda bread, and fresh milk. In the evenings, it will transform into a traditional neighbourhood pub featuring Irish food, drink, and live music.
Determined to create an authentic atmosphere rather than relying on generic decorations, Cian is calling on Kerry locals, businesses, and sports clubs to send over items with a real story behind them.
“Being from Kilcummin, there’ll naturally be plenty of Kerry influence around the place. One thing that’s particularly important to me is that the pub doesn’t end up filled with generic, newly made ‘Irish pub’ decorations. I’d much rather fill the walls gradually with genuine pieces from home that have a bit of history and a story behind them. If any local pubs, clubs, businesses or readers had an old sign, photograph, jersey, bar piece or other bit of Kerry memorabilia gathering dust that they thought deserved a new home on the other side of the world, I’d absolutely love to hear from them.”
