€84k funding boost for MacGillycuddy Reeks Trails
Two projects in the MacGillycuddy Reeks are among 12 in Kerry to get funding under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme. A total of €84,600 has been allocated for the Reeks projects.
The Caher Mountain Trail Restoration Works will receive €39,870, while €44,730 will go towards a full assessment of trails in the MacGillycuddy Reeks.
The funding will support work to repair and maintain popular mountain routes, ensuring they remain safe and accessible for walkers. It will also help with planning for future upgrades and managing the impact of heavy use on the fragile mountain environment.
In total, €388,000 has been granted to outdoor recreation projects across Kerry, covering walking trails, mountain routes, and coastal amenities.
