€1.7m allocated to Killarney district roads

Residents of some of the more-rural areas surrounding Killarney town will welcome funding allocations for road improvement works.
A total of €1,766,014 is to be spent on road improvement schemes in the Killarney area over the next three years.
This includes €187,425 to be spent on the Loo Bridge to Poulgorm section of the R-569. The Agahdoe to Knockasartnet Cross section of the L-2019 will get €174,930 while the problematic Finnegan’s Cross junction is in line for €107,100.
A total of 18 regional and local roads in the area are in line for the €1.7 million funding from the Department of Transport but Kerry County Council could also match the funding is certain cases.
Cllr Niall Kelleher is one of several councillors who have been pushing for a road repair programme in East Kerry at Killarney Municipal District level.
