Gardai thank the people of Killarney and Beaufort

GARDAÍ in Killarney have thanked the public for what they described as “tremendous assistance” in the wake of the robbery at Waterville Post Office and subsequent arrest in Beaufort last Wednesday.
Two men were charged in connection with the investigation into the robbery.
While the incident took place in south Kerry, the arrest took place in Beaufort, and the support received by investigating officers has been “tremendous”, according to Superintendent Flor Murphy, Killarney.
“Gardaí would like to thank the people of Killarney and Beaufort for their invaluable assistance in this investigation,” Superintendent Murphy told the Killarney Advertiser.
“The assistance and information received from the people of Beaufort and Killarney was extremely valuable and has greatly assisted our invitation to date. I really appreciate it and we are pleased with the investigation.”
The men, aged 32 and 46 years, appeared before a special sitting of Killarney District Court on Saturday evening at 7.15pm. They remain in Garda custody.
A woman in her late 20s who was arrested on Thursday in connection with this investigation was released without charge on Saturday. She had been detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended, at Killarney Garda Station.
The robbery occurred at approximately 11am. A quantity of cash was stolen from the post office during the robbery. Three men involved in the incident left the Waterville area in a small blue car in the direction of Caherciveen/Killarney.
Gardaí responding to the incident intercepted a 03 D navy blue Mazda car. This vehicle was pursued and ultimately crashed in the Beaufort area of Killarney.
Two men were arrested and detained at Killarney and Tralee Garda stations under Section 30 of The Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

Person of interest leaves jurisdiction in Killarney murder case
Gardaí investigating the murder of Jamey Carney have confirmed that a person of interest left the jurisdiction in the early hours of Tuesday July 7, prior to the discovery of the body.
An Garda Síochána are currently engaging with international law enforcement partners as part of the ongoing investigation into the death at a domestic residence on Muckross Road. The murder investigation is being carried out by the Serious Crime Unit, Kerry Division, with assistance from national units including the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) and the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB).
The scene at Muckross Road remains preserved today, and the technical examination is continuing.
Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. In particular, anyone who was in the Muckross Road area between 11pm on July 6 and 5am on July 7, and who may have camera, CCTV, or dashcam footage, is asked to contact the investigation team.
