FLEMING'S TAXIS and Tim Jones Butchers got in gear for the Killarney Athletic seven-a-side over-35 showdown last night and it was an exciting conclusion to the 2016 tournament.
The finale of the 40th annual event was played in good weather conditions in Woodlawn with Shane Horgan opening the scoreline with a first-half goal. David Looney followed with a second-half goal to make it three-in-a-row for Fleming’s Taxis, who won on a scoreline of Fleming’s Taxis 2, Tim Jones Butchers 0.
The cup was presented to captain Alan Brady by Pat Delaney and Stephen Darmody of Killarney Credit Union.
The 40th celebration of the tournament and awards night takes place tomorrow, Friday, July 29, from 8pm to late in McSorley’s Bar, with the awards presentation at 9pm for the premier, reserve and over-35 winners. Everyone is welcome to this social night as the club will have some interesting memorabilia on display.
