Public invited to learn global dance for Culture Night
Residents are being invited to learn a famous dance sequence ahead of a public performance at Market Cross for Culture Night on Friday, September 18.

Local rehearsals are underway at West End House on New Street to teach Pina Bausch’s Nelken Line. The piece consists of a simple series of arm and hand movements performed while walking, symbolizing the four seasons and the cycle of life.
Organisers emphasize that the routine is designed for people of all ages and abilities, with no prior dance experience required.
Preparatory workshops continue this afternoon, Friday, September 11, from 4pm to 6pm, with a final session scheduled for Thursday, September 17, from 4pm to 6pm. Each workshop includes a screening of a short film introducing choreographer Pina Bausch and her work.
Participants will perform the piece together at Market Cross at 6pm on Culture Night. Performers are encouraged to wear elegant attire, formal suits, or traditional cultural clothing, with complimentary hair and makeup assistance provided on site.
Attendance at any individual workshop allows entry into the final performance. Workshop registration details and enquiries can be directed to fionaoconnorsemail@gmail.com.
