Killarney actor Michael Fassbender is set to star alongside his wife, Alicia Vikander, for the second time in a feature film.

The couple has joined the cast of an upcoming Korean thriller titled Hope, directed by Na Hong-jin. The film is primarily in the Korean language, but Fassbender and Vikander will speak English in their roles.
The plot centres on a remote harbour town where residents make a mysterious discovery. This leads to a fight for survival against a threat they have never encountered. The cast also includes Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, and Taylor Russell.
This is the first time the pair has acted together since the 2016 drama The Light Between Oceans. In that film, they played a married couple living on a lighthouse island off the coast of Western Australia. While they both appeared in the 2015 documentary I Am Ingrid, the 2016 production was their only previous feature film collaboration.
The project marks a rare on-screen reunion for the Killarney man and the Oscar-winning actress. Production on Hope is currently underway.

Final year Wildlife Biology students from Munster Technological University (MTU) Kerry Campus will display their research projects at Killarney House on Tuesday, May 5.

The poster event highlights 12 months of field research conducted in various habitats, including Killarney National Park and the newly established Páirc Náisiúnta na Mara, Ciarraí.
The projects cover a broad range of conservation and ecological topics, such as studies on the endangered Natterjack Toad, the Eurasian Curlew, and the biodiversity of seagrass habitats along the Kerry coast.
Other research looks at the role of fungi and lichens, small mammals, and the recovery of ecosystems following rhododendron clearance.
Student Michael Wycherley said the event is a great chance to share findings with the public after four years of study. The students utilised modern technology for their work, including audio monitoring and trail cameras, often in collaboration with organisations like the National Parks and Wildlife Service and Kerry County Council.

Dr Eilish Broderick, Head of the Department of Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciences at MTU, noted that the research reflects the strong connections between the university and industry partners, providing students with practical skills for their future careers.
The exhibition is open to the public from 10.30am to 5pm on Tuesday, May 5, at Killarney House. All are welcome to attend, view the posters, and speak with the students about their findings.
