Killarney for Palestine will host a charity coffee morning this Saturday, December 13, in aid of Médicins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and displaced families in Gaza.

The coffee morning has been extended by an hour, running from 11.30am to 2.30pm, as Moglaí Bap of Kneecap will lead one of the group’s trademark community runs through a town. The run will finish at 1.50pm at The Black Sheep Hostel on New Street, where the fundraiser is taking place. Kneecap run in every town and city they perform in, and this weekend the INEC is on their schedule.
The event will be held inside the lounge and interior kitchen of The Black Sheep Hostel and will feature festive baked goods, hot drinks, and live music. A raffle will be held with prizes including a luxury hamper, vouchers for Dunnes Stores, Noelle’s Café, Phoenix Fitness, and tickets to Kneecap’s Killarney show.
The morning is family-friendly, with children’s face painting and Palestine merchandise available.
Organisers say they are hoping for a strong turnout to support humanitarian work in Gaza, with all proceeds going directly to MSF and displaced families.

The landmark International Hotel in Killarney has been sold, although the details of its new owner have not yet been confirmed.

The Killarney Advertiser understands that the property was purchased by a well-known local family already established in the hotel and hospitality sector.
The 98-bedroom property, located in the centre of town next to the jarvey stand and a short walk from Killarney National Park, was placed on the market last September with a guide price of between €18 million and €20 million.
CBRE, who handled the sale, had previously described the deal as “one of the most significant hotel property sales to come on the market in Killarney in recent years”.
The International Hotel had been operated by the Coyne family for nearly 50 years. The hotel was originally purchased by the late Sean Coyne in 1976. The family had modernised and expanded the business over the years. Facilities within the hotel include Hannigan’s Bar and Restaurant, along with meeting and event spaces.
The Coyne family stated earlier that the time was right to hand the hotel to new owners, saying they had “always seen ourselves as guardians of the International Hotel. Now is the time to pass it on so its heritage is protected and its future success is secured”.
