International Hotel has been sold!
The landmark International Hotel in Killarney has been sold, although the details of its new owner have not yet been confirmed.
The Killarney Advertiser understands that the property was purchased by a well-known local family already established in the hotel and hospitality sector.
The 98-bedroom property, located in the centre of town next to the jarvey stand and a short walk from Killarney National Park, was placed on the market last September with a guide price of between €18 million and €20 million.
CBRE, who handled the sale, had previously described the deal as "one of the most significant hotel property sales to come on the market in Killarney in recent years".
The International Hotel had been operated by the Coyne family for nearly 50 years. The hotel was originally purchased by the late Sean Coyne in 1976. The family had modernised and expanded the business over the years. Facilities within the hotel include Hannigan’s Bar and Restaurant, along with meeting and event spaces.
The Coyne family stated earlier that the time was right to hand the hotel to new owners, saying they had "always seen ourselves as guardians of the International Hotel. Now is the time to pass it on so its heritage is protected and its future success is secured".
