O’Donoghue steals show at golf seniors tournament
While Pat Casey was crowned overall winner of the 2025 M.D. O’Shea’s and Sons Perpetual Trophy at Mahony’s Point, the real story of the tournament was Seán ‘The Castle’ O’Donoghue.
At 91 years of age, O’Donoghue claimed victory in the Over-75 category with a score of 44 points. Remarkably, he also played in the very first Killarney Seniors event back in 1995 when he was 61.
The popular competition, which has been running since 1995, once again drew a strong field. Casey, a native of Kiskeam, took the main prize with an impressive round of 48 points, which included seven pars.
