Public meeting to discuss future of heritage buildings
Kerry County Council is holding a second public meeting to talk about the future of Killarney Town Centre and its old buildings.
This meeting for ‘THRIVE Killarney’will be on Tuesday, May 20, from 6pm to 8pm in the Sika Room at the Killarney Plaza Hotel.
This follows a first meeting in February. The focus will be on creating a plan for Killarney Town Centre and discussing its heritage buildings.
The evening will include a short talk at 6:15pm, followed by a workshop where people can share their thoughts and ideas.
The THRIVE programme helps local councils and people to come up with new ideas for town centres. It also aims to renovate and find new uses for empty or run-down old buildings that are owned by the public in these town centres.
Everyone is welcome to drop in at any time during the event to listen, join in, speak to the project team, and share their opinions on the Killarney project.
THRIVE is the ‘Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme’ which is partly funded by the Irish Government and the European Union.

First day for Lissivigeen Junior Infants
Excitement filled the air in Lissivigeen National School on Thursday as more than 30 Junior Infants marked their very first day of school.
The new pupils settled into their classrooms, taking their first big steps in primary education under the guidance of Principal Ellen Cagney, teachers Kristine Sheahan and Bríd Ryan, and SNA Marie Carroll-O’Sullivan. The children spent their morning making new friends, exploring their classrooms, and getting used to school routine during a memorable milestone for the school community.
