Kerry braces for more severe weather as Orange Warning issued
Kerry County Council is urging extreme caution on all roads this morning due to a combination of snow and ice.
Priority routes were treated yesterday evening and overnight, but treacherous conditions persist.
Motorists are advised to remain on treated routes and exercise extreme caution even there. Travel should only be undertaken if absolutely necessary.
Meanwhile, An Garda Síochána are maintaining patrols throughout the county, with the Armed Support Unit spotted on road safety patrol in Killarney yesterday.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange weather warning for Kerry tonight.
The warning predicts extremely cold temperatures with widespread severe frost, ice, and lying snow.
This could lead to dangerous travelling conditions, travel disruptions, and animal welfare issues. The warning is valid from 8:00 pm Tuesday to 10:00 am Wednesday.
A Status Yellow Snow Ice warning remains in effect until 12 noon Tuesday, and a Status Yellow Low Temperature warning will be in place until 6:00 am Friday.
