Kerry Mountain Rescue opens base extension

Kerry Mountain Rescue has officially opened its new extended base on the grounds of Killarney Garda Station.
The expansion provides additional space for equipment, vehicles, training, and facilities, enhancing the team's capabilities to respond to emergencies in the region.
The new base was officially opened by retired team member Christy McCarthy on Friday.
The timing was particularly significant as the team was immediately called into action to respond to two separate incidents on Carrauntoohil the following day.
Two walkers were injured on the challenging Devil's Ladder section of the mountain. Kerry Mountain Rescue volunteers stretched their resources to assist both casualties, demonstrating their dedication and expertise in mountain rescue operations.
