Public meeting to discuss asylum seekers on Muckross Road
Residents of the Muckross Road area are to hold a public meeting on Sunday to raise concerns on the number of International Protection Seekers that are be homed in a hotel there.
Last week it was announced that 77 Protection males were to be placed at the Harmony Inn, Kings Court Hotel.
On Wednesday this week over 100 residents of Muckross Road attended a meeting at the Old Weir Lodge to discuss concerns surrounding the housing of 77 males at the two hotels.
They are to hold a second meeting at the Killarney Avenue Hotel at 7pm on Sunday evening.
“Our national and local representatives will all be in attendance. We would like to see a large turnout of people at the meeting in support of the town of Killarney as we seek to protect the services, infrastructure, health system, tourism and brand of Killarney town,” said a statement issued by the meeting organisers.
