Killarney cheerleaders fly the Irish flag in Florida

By Sean Moriarty
Two Killarney women placed sixth and 11th in the World Cheerleading and Dance Championships in Orlando Florida last weekend.
Emma Rose Byrne and Katlyn Moynihan both represented Ireland at the event.
The athletes competed in the ‘Doubles Performance Cheer Section’ at ESPN Sports Arena.
Their coach Hayley Murphy, of the Legacy Elite Cheerleading and Gymnastics Club in Killarney, said she is very proud of the girls' achievements.
“Both girls have been training with me since childhood and to see them in their adult years performing on a world-class stage representing their country is an absolute honour. It is also fantastic to see women achieving in sport,” she told the Killarney Advertiser.
“On behalf of Emma and Katlyn, I would like to thank the town of Killarney and everyone for their constant support throughout including Cheer Sport Ireland. Katlyn and Emma will be back to training next week and will be working hard towards their new goals.”
Legacy Elite Cheerleading and Gymnastics Club will be running a Summer Camp between July 31 and August 4 – details from Hayley on 086 3958327.
