Golf Classic to remember much-loved Kilcummin man
By Michelle Crean
A much loved and missed member of Kilcummin community will be remembered in a fundraising Golf Classic next week.
Kilcummin GAA Club are organising the event in memory of Anthony 'Skinner' O'Sullivan on Saturday April 29 at Kenmare Golf Club.
Anthony, formerly of Ballinamanagh, Kilcummin, died tragically in Australia in 2017. Many of Anthony's friends, with whom he was extremely popular, still reside in Australia and support the event financially in his memory.
Golf society President and organiser Kevin O'Riordan acknowledges their generous support and says the prizegiving ceremony will be live-streamed on Facebook enhancing the link with the club's exiles.
"Each year Kilcummin GAA run a Golf Classic which, as well as raising funds for the maintenance of the club's grounds and facilities, has proven to be a very enjoyable community and sporting event," Kevin said.
"The O'Sullivan family have presented a cup in Anthony's honour and it will be presented to the winners of the classic along with trophies and generous prizes."
Teams of three for the event cost €180. Tee boxes can be sponsored for €80 and anyone wishing to do so or book a tee time can contact Muiris on 086 1614136 or Mike on 0876258642.
