Tamika earns place in regional competition

Using strong communication skills impressed the judges and earned a local Fifth Year student a place Regional Public Speaking competition.
Killarney Community College student Tamika Heaphy, won a place in the Regional Soroptimist International Girl’s Public Speaking Competition which will take place in Cork next January.
Tamika is through to the next stage after competing against very stiff competition this morning (Tuesday) in the local heat of the competition in the Killarney Avenue Hotel.
Tamika chose to speak about the topic of prosperity and health where she wowed the judges with her fantastic communication and public speaking skills.
She competed against students from schools across Kerry and secured one of two places that were up for grabs to compete in the Regionals in January.
English teacher and mentor Ms O'Shea commended Tamika on her achievement.
"She prepared well, spoke eloquently and passionately about a subject she obviously cares about," Ms O'Shea said.
"We hope her achievements inspire her fellow students to enter more public speaking competitions. We are very proud of her."
