Sophie’s choice wins national photo award

By Michelle Crean
Young Sophie Mai Woulfe's choice of photo in a schools competition has won a national award.
Looking happy as she gets ready to eat her freshly made pizza was a winner in the eyes of the judges in the Junior Category Ireland’s National School Photography Awards (INSPA).
Entitled 'The Pizzeria', the Kilcummin NS pupil beat off stiff competition from schools around the country.
INSPA is a nationwide, children's photography competition and creative well-being initiative, currently open to primary schools in Ireland. It rewards schools for implementing creative well-being approaches across the curriculum. It also gives young pupils a unique opportunity to develop new and creative life skills alongside a platform to showcase their individual talents.
Ms Muireann McCarthy's class entered some fantastic entries into the competition and the judges explained how there was an overwhelmingly high response to the competition.
"Kilcummin NS is delighted to have been selected as the national winning school," Muireann told the Killarney Advertiser.
"The school is so proud of all of our entrants and especially of Sophie Mai and are delighted to receive a range of prizes with the award including a brand new INSTAX Mini 11 camera for the school. Well done to Sophie Mai."
