Consultation on new Draft Kenmare Municipal District Local Area Plan

Kerry County Council has commenced a period of pre-draft public consultation on the new Kenmare Municipal District Local Area Plan 2022-2028

The Council has published an Issues Paper which sets out the broad parameters of the plan and the issues which are subject to public consultation.

The new Kenmare Municipal District LAP will replace the existing West Iveragh LAP 2019-2025, Killorglin Functional Area LAP 2010-2016, the Kenmare Functional Area LAP 2010-2016, and the Cahersiveen, Waterville and Sneem Functional Areas LAP 2013-2019.

The Kenmare Municipal District includes the following areas:

Submissions can be made until September 9 2022 either in writing or online through the Kerry County Council website.

Killarney-based musician Shane Doolan will release his latest single, ‘SPACEMAN’, this Friday, December 19.

The new track is described as an atmospheric release exploring themes of ambition, isolation, and the desire to escape everyday limits. The single showcases Doolan’s evolving sound, combining emotional storytelling with cinematic production.
The release follows a significant year for the young artist. Earlier in 2024, Doolan headlined his first live show at The Anam Centre in Killarney. The event was a major local success, raising over €1,055 for Movember, the men’s health charity.
Doolan, who first gained local attention after his band won the Battle of the Bands at the Anam Centre, has cited influences such as Walking on Cars, Bon Iver, and Kodaline. Following his September debut, “The Ruins,” and his second single, “After The Bells,” he is currently working toward a debut EP set for release in January 2026.
‘SPACEMA’ will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and all major streaming platforms from this Friday.
