Celtic Football club set to make its “mark”

By Sean Moriarty
Three years after being awarded the coveted FAI Club Mark, Killarney Celtic Football Club will finally get official recognition.
The club was awarded the Club Mark in July 2019 but the pandemic prevented the award presentation.
On Tuesday next week FAI President Gerry McAnaney will present the award to club officials at their grounds in Derreen.
The distinction is awarded, by the governing body, to clubs that meet criteria like off-field management, promotion and growth of the sport within the club’s communities and high standards of achievement and best practices.
The club were followed by their cross-town rivals Killarney Athletic Football Club which was also awarded the FAI Mark in July 2020.
“This is the highest award available at the moment,” said club MC Padraig Harnett.
“The award is for grassroots clubs who have demonstrated best practice in their management and administration. By reaching these levels of excellence off the field it results in having a stronger club and a stronger game.”
The presentation will take place Tuesday July 19 at 1230pm at Dereen.
