St Mary’s to host first ever Traveller Pride mass

The Travelling Community will celebrate its first ever Traveller’s Pride Week Mass in Killarney on July 19.
This is the first of its kind in the country and could pave the way for further such events in the future.
The week commencing July 16 is Traveller Pride week. The week-long celebration o being organised to protect some of the traditions and cultures associated with the traveling community.
The diocese of Kerry is working with Kerry Travellers and has organised the Mass which will take place on July 19 in St Mary’s Cathedral.
“I would like to let everyone know from all corners of life that they would be most welcome to participate in this event with us,” said spokesperson Richard O’Brien. “This is a big moment for the Irish church and the Travelling community as it will bring unity”.
Kerry Travellers will have several events happening throughout the county for Traveller Pride Week.
