Moynihan named London club’s Player of the Year

By Sean Moriarty
Former Spa GAA star Matthew Moynihan has been named as the 2020 Player of the Year by his adopted London club Tir Chonaill Gaels.
The club’s awards night took place in Hendon, North London and was a combined celebration of the 2019 to 2021 seasons.
He has been living in London, where he works as an accountant for an construction firm, since December 2017 and joined the Greenford-based club the following year.
“It was a big surprise to hear my name called, there are a lot of good players in the club,” he told the Killarney Advertiser. “It was very humbling – I was not expecting it all.”
Moynihan is also playing for the London team this season.
London play Leitrim in the third round of the Division 4 National League in Carrick-on-Shannon on Sunday.
The exiles are currently joint-third in the championship standings and could top the table after this weekend if they overcome Leitrim, depending on how the Cavan and Sligo games ends.
“I think we will have a better idea of how the table looks after this weekend," he added.
