Quite possibly Spa GAA Club must be the luckiest club in town - as they've had four club lotto jackpot winners in just six months!

Like most local clubs, Spa GAA run the weekly lotto to raise funds to pay for club activities.Lucky Mary Cronin from Park Road won Monday’s jackpot and pocketed €5,200 as a result. And, not only that but she's the fourth winner who has won the club's jackpot since August."The Spa lotto must be the luckiest club lotto to play in Ireland with four jackpot winners since August 2021,” Tadhg Hickey, Spa GAA Club lotto Chairman, told the Killarney Advertiser. "Since restrictions it has been difficult to reach all our usual players but playing online through the Spa website has been a huge success. Online players can enter from one week or for up to 52 weeks with a few easy clicks.”The Spa lotto was launched in 2013. The winners since August were Tony Mangan, Killorglin, Rosemary Lynch, Brewsterfield, Julie McGowan, Killarney and most recently Mary Cronin, Park Road.Next Monday’s Spa lotto has a jackpot of €3,000 and tickets are available from www.spagaa.com.Tickets can also be purchased at Daly's SuperValu Killarney; Killarney Hardware; Centra Muckross Road and from the Spa GAA clubhouse reception.

New art exhibition at Killarney House

Killarney House & Gardens will host a new exhibition this August celebrating the landscapes, heritage, and character of County Kerry through the eyes of local artists.

Titled Natural Kerry, the exhibition runs from August 2 to August 28, featuring a diverse collection of original artworks inspired by the county’s dramatic mountain ranges, lakes, and historic landmarks.


Former Mayor of Killarney and Chairperson of Killarney Tidy Towns, Michael Gleeson, will officially open the exhibition on Saturday, August 8 at 3:00pm.


Members of the public are invited to attend the official launch, where refreshments will be served.


The featured works have been created by members of the Tralee Art Group, one of Kerry’s longest-established visual arts organisations, founded in 1979.


Caitriona Foley, Chairperson of the group, expressed excitement about returning to the historic Killarney venue and extended sincere thanks to Diana Fawsitt, Pat Dawson, and the local staff at Killarney House & Gardens for their support in staging the event.


Original artworks and prints displayed throughout the residency will be available for purchase.

Eight Bar of the Year nominations for ODR group


The O’Donoghue Ring Collection has secured eight finalist nominations across three of its venues at this year’s Bar of the Year Awards.


Café du Parc, Pig’s Lane, and The Kenmare Rooms at the Killarney Avenue Hotel were all named among the nation’s top hospitality spots after the shortlist was chosen from over 1,000 entries nationwide.
Café du Parc was shortlisted for both Hotel Bar of the Year and Hotel Cocktail Bar of the Year.
Underground bar Pig’s Lane claimed five nominations, including Innovative Bar of the Year, Best Designed Bar, Cocktail Bar of the Year, and Whiskey Bar of the Year. Bartender Aušrinė Kikilytė was also named a finalist for Cocktail Bartender of the Year.
Rounding out the success, The Kenmare Rooms at the Killarney Avenue Hotel earned a spot on the shortlist for Bar Food of the Year.
The winners will be announced at a gala ceremony on August 24 at the Clayton Hotel in Dublin.
