New Road traffic meeting deferred
By Sean Moriarty
Killarney Gardai hope to host a meeting to discuss traffic problems in the New Road area as soon as possible but say the pandemic is causing a delay.
There have been on-going problems in the area at school drop-off and pick-up times.
As recently as last week the Killarney Advertiser highlighted some of the issues faced by residents of the otherwise quiet street.
Previously, cyclists and wheelchair users have complained that they were unable to use the street due to large numbers of illegally parked cars.
Sergeant Dermot O’Connell of Killarney Garda Station has told the Killarney Advertiser that he and his colleagues are working with various stakeholders, including Kerry County Council, school principals and businesses on the street.
“We want to call a meeting a discuss these plans and solutions with all stakeholders,” he told the Killarney Advertiser, “We can’t call such a meeting due to COVID-19 but we will as soon as we can.”
