Traffic restrictions in place for rally weekend

Motorists can expect traffic disruption in the town and surrounding areas today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) as there are a number of road closures in place to facilitate the running of the Rentokil Initial Killarney Historic Rally.
Lewis Road car park will be used as a holding area for competing rally cars and will be unavailable for parking purposes until 10am tomorrow (Saturday).
Main Street from the Plaza Hotel to New Street will be closed from 6pm to 9pm today (Friday) to allow the holding of a ceremonial start in the area.
Tomorrow (Saturday), the Moll’s Gap road will be closed from the main entrance to Muckross House between 7.30am and 2.15pm and Ballaghbeama Gap will close from 8am and 2.29pm.
Roads in the Caragh Lake area will be shut between 8.40am and 3.24pm also tomorrow (Saturday) and motorists can also expect heavy traffic on the N72 between Killorglin and Fossa and on Muckross Road from around 7am until after 4pm.
