Kelliher’s Garage – the county’s only Toyota dealership – is holding an open day at the Gleneagle Hotel on Sunday.

The full range of hybrid Toyota cars will be on show and the Tralee-based garage is inviting members of the public to attend the roadshow and take a test drive in one of the many cars on display.

The show is part of an extended Toyota hybrid demonstration weekend at Kelliher’s Garage this weekend.

The three-day festival of motoring gets underway tomorrow (Friday) at their Tralee headquarters when a new five-year sponsorship deal with Kerry GAA will be announced. Kerry football and hurling stars will be at the event from 12 noon.

On Saturday, Kelliher’s Garage will host the first of its hybrid days in the county where anyone who signs up for a test drive on the day will be entered in a draw for a chance of winning €2,000 off their new Toyota purchase.

The entire road show moves to The Gleneagle Hotel on Sunday morning. The Killarney event runs between 11am and 4pm.

“We are proud and delighted to be able to bring and demonstrate the new generation Toyota hybrid product to the whole county, north, south, east or west,” Dealer Principal, Tim Kelliher, said.

“Our five-year agreement with Kerry GAA Football and Hurling gives Kelliher's an opportunity to give a little back to our county with both codes developing a ‘hybrid game plan’ which will surely guarantee success. We invite the public to call in, chat to us, be inquisitive about hybrid and take a test drive in a relaxed and local environment.”

Visitors to the Killarney event who take test drives will also be entered in the draw for €2000 off their new Toyota purchase.

The exhibition, which runs from March 10 to March 31, explores the foundational years of the political party within the county between 1926 and 1933.

The exhibition details how the party established itself in a county where Civil War divisions were particularly deep-seated. It covers the transition of local figures from revolutionary activities to parliamentary politics and the intense election battles of the late 1920s. Visitors will be able to view documents and archives that illustrate how the party built its organisation across South Kerry in its first decade.

As part of the event, local historian and author Dr. Owen O’Shea will give a public lecture at the library on Thursday, March 26, at 7:00 p.m. His talk will focus on the foundation of the party and the “bullets to ballots” transition in Kerry politics. The exhibition is free to attend and will be open during the library’s scheduled operating hours throughout the month of March.
The project is the result of extensive research funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media. The grant was awarded under the Commemorations Bursary Scheme for 2025-2026 and managed by the Royal Irish Academy. This scheme supports local research that helps the public better understand the political and social evolution of Ireland following the Civil War.
