Sleigh bells are almost ready to ring in town!

By Michelle Crean
"Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?" - well maybe not quite yet......but very soon a magical Christmas experience will be returning to town.
And this Monday will be your chance to get tickets as part of the annual Christmas in Killarney Celebrations, Killarney Sleigh Rides will open their sales online at 1pm.
Killarney Sleigh Rides, bought to town by Killarney Jaunting Cars and the Tangney Family, were amongst other Christmas activities, a noticeable absence last year, having over the years become a family Christmas tradition with many families from Kerry and beyond.
Families and fans of the festive season will be delighted to hear that this year it is once again returning, kicking off on Saturday, November 27 and running until Sunday January 2.
"This year is special because it marks the return of many Christmas experiences to the town," Laura Tangney said.
"Welcoming people is an important part of what we do, so we are really looking forward to meeting and greeting families and bringing the magic of the festive season to the streets of Killarney once again."
In 2010, they started with two sleighs and year on year, found there was an increased demand for tickets.
"We responded by adding further sleighs to our crew, as well as the implementation of our online booking platform, making it easier for families to book," Michael Tangney added.
"This year, we are planning for it to be bigger and better than ever."
Families can choose from two different Sleigh Ride experiences. The Town Sleigh Ride offers unforgettable festive fun with a Sleigh Ride through the streets of Killarney to take in the town’s array of seasonal displays and delights, including Santa’s Sleigh and Post Box, as well as St Mary’s Cathedral, alight in all its yuletide glory.
The Park Sleigh Ride offers a unique setting for the most memorable Christmas moments as families journey through the winter wonderland of Killarney National Park for an opportunity to spot Santa’s deer as well as the snow-capped mountains of the MacGillycuddy Reeks, before enjoying a short stopover in Ross Castle.
All Sleigh Rides depart from Christmas Island, Kenmare Place, opposite the cinema and Four-Star Pizza. A special Christmas gift is included in each experience and families are also invited to bring a treat for Rudolph!
