Kissane third in national cycling championship

By Sean Moriarty
Killarney cyclist Conor Kissane finished third in the Cycling Ireland Hill Climb National Championships on Sunday last.
Organised by Gaeltacht Cycling Club, participants faced a tough 2.44 kilometre climb, near Moycullen, County Galway.
Kissane finished third in a time of 4 minutes: 54.10 seconds, he was second in the same championship when it last ran in Castleisland in 2019.
“Any other year I would be disappointed with third but given the year we have had it is not so bad,” the Barleymount rider told the Killarney Advertiser.
“It was short climb on quite a steep course.”
The race was won by Joel Luke of UCD Cycling Club, taking the win on the narrowest of margins. Luke was less than one-tenth of a second quicker than Lindsay Watson (Powerhouse Sport) with a time of 4:48.62.
Fellow Killarney Cycling Club member Ewan Buckley was 16th in the same race.
