Mountain Meitheal documentary to feature in KIFF this Sunday
By Sean Moriarty
The volunteers behind Killarney Mountain Meitheal will be featured in a short documentary to be screened during the Kerry International Film Festival (KIFF) this Sunday.
The short film called ‘Hatchets and Hope - The Killarney Mountain’ will be one of the main shows in the Kerry Connection Shorts segment of the festival and will be screened in Cinema Killarney at 4.30pm.
The film will tell the story of a small group of volunteers who protect Ireland’s native woodland forests from Rhododendron.
“This charming short documentary film introduces an intergenerational group of volunteers in South Kerry. Each week they hike out to protect some of Ireland’s last surviving woodland forests from the alarming spread of Rhododendron,” Director and producer, Aoibheann O'Sullivan told the Killarney Advertiser.
“I know somebody who is involved in this project and I am really looking forward to seeing this screening myself.”
