Killorglin rowers the pride of the county
By Sean Moriarty
While David Kenny’s Olympic adventure is just beginning, it is over for Monika Dukarska and Aileen Crowley.
However, the Killorglin pair can hold their heads high as they are now ranked 11th in the world in terms of Olympic women’s pairs rowing.
In the early hours of yesterday morning (Thursday) Irish time, they finished fifth in the Women’s Pair B Final. They were beaten by the winners, Australia. Denmark comfortably took silver with third place going to Romania. The USA just pipped the Irish boat for fourth place.
“I have definitely fulfilled a lifetime goal and I'm really happy to have become an Olympian and grateful for having the opportunity to represent Ireland at such a global event,” Monika told the Killarney Advertiser.
"This has been an amazing experience from start to finish."
