Sadness at death of local centenarian

News of the death of Thomas (Tom) O’Connell, Ross Road and formerly Meenkilly, Abbeyfeale, who turned 100 in late January, was met with sadness on Tuesday.
A private family funeral took place for Tom in St Mary's Cathedral yesterday morning (Thursday) followed by burial afterwards in Aghadoe Lawn Cemetery.
Tom was born in Meenkilly, Abbeyfeale on January 27, 1921. He worked as a manager in Currans Creamery and lived in Currans for 40 years before retiring to Scrahan Mews on Ross Road.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary almost two years ago.
He is survived by his children Gerard, Noel, Margaret and Joseph, daughter-in-law Maria, son-in-law Brian, grandchildren Thomas, Eoin and Méabh, nieces and nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.
