LOTTO LUCK: Batty O’Sullivan (centre, right) receives his €16,000 cheque from Killarney Celtic FC Lotto Committee Chairman, Der Lyne with, from left, committee members John C Counihan, Packie O’Connor, Paul Sherry, (Chairman), and Tim Jones (Vice Chairman).

Batty ‘Skips’ O’Sullivan was thrilled when he became Killarney Celtic FC's biggest ever lotto prizewinner with a super €16,000 jackpot.

From Knocknaskeha in Spa, Batty invests in an annual ticket every year to support the reigning league and cup double champions - and his loyalty paid off when his lucky numbers were plucked from the draw drum.

Batty, who operates a busy skip hire company, had chosen the numbers 2, 6, 9 and 23 and it landed him the record jackpot prize.

“We’re absolutely thrilled for Batty as he is a great supporter of Celtic," Killarney Celtic FC Chairman, Paul Sherry, said.

“The lotto is our only source of fundraising and Batty is always there to support us and to help us out with anything we need. This win genuinely couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy."

The Celtic lotto jackpot is now at €5,200.

The Ladies’ Committee of Kilcummin GAA Club has announced the return of its annual Pink Night, set to take place in The Klub Bar on Saturday, January 3.

Now in its 12th year, the event will support Comfort for Chemo for the fifth year running. The evening promises both fun and fundraising for the charity.

Guests will be greeted with a Prosecco reception and chocolate-dipped strawberries to start the post-Christmas celebration.
While attendees are encouraged to wear pink, dressing up is optional, with the focus on community and support for the cause. Prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed Female and Best Dressed Male.

The event begins at 8:00pm. Entertainment will be provided by Derry and Rosie Healy followed by Barry McGrath playing late into the night.

A raffle and door prizes, kindly provided by local sponsors, will take place on the night. Committee member Kathleen Ryan said the continued support of the local sponsors is deeply appreciated.

Admission to the event is free, and all are welcome to attend the celebration.
