On Tuesday, two men were arrested and later released without charge. A further two arrests were made on Wednesday and both these men were also released later that day.

The fifth arrest was made yesterday morning (Thursday) and that man remained in custody yesterday evening.

Superintendent Flor Murphy of Killarney Garda Station confirmed to the Killarney Advertiser that five arrests have been made in relation to the incident in which 26-year-old Darragh Sheehan, who was from Doneraile in North Cork, was found unconscious outside a Muckross Road premises.

“It is a very tragic situation,” Superintendent Murphy told the Killarney Advertiser. “Tragic because a young man lost his life and tragic because the incident occurred on the premises of decent business people who were only trying to make a pound.”

Four men have been released without charge and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
