Former Irish Rugby Head Coach Joe Schmidt will be one of the guests of honour at the annual St Brendan’s College Concert on March 11.
This is the seventh annual concert, organised by local musical legend Liam O’Connor and the school’s music teaching staff Mish O’Donoghue and Niamh O’Connell.
O’Connor, who was last year named as ‘Ireland’s Most Influential Accordion Player’ will lead the concert. He will be joined on stage by former Eurovision singer Brian Kennedy. The pair have worked together several times in the past, most recently at a Christmas Concert in the Friary in Killarney. They will be joined on stage by members of the St Brendan’s College Choir and Music Group.
Schmidt, who guided the Irish Rugby team to three Six Nation Rugby titles between 2013 and 2019, will give a talk on the ups and downs of life during the interval.
“I met Joe on my travels and he is a fascinating man,” Liam told the Killarney Advertiser.
“He is not here to talk about rugby, of course he will talk about it, but he will take a more holistic approach to life. I started this with Principal Sean Coffey, seven years ago and it has grown and grown.”
Tickets at €30 (plus booking fee) are available at www.ticketstop.ie.
