New lift to be installed at Killarney NCT centre
&
A new underbody inspection lift is to be installed at the Killarney National Car Test (NCT) centre in the coming days.
Some lifts were deemed unsafe countywide, including Killarney, to allow NCT technicians to inspect the underside of cars.
As a result, motorists were being forced to drive around with partial NCT tests.
“NCTS can confirm that we will be installing a new lift over the coming days in Killarney, it is not operational yet as it obviously still needs to be installed,” NCTS’s Sinead McKeon told the Killarney Advertiser. “When it is operational, priority will then be given to those drivers who are due to undergo a driving test shortly and an NCT taxi roadworthiness test.”
She was unable to confirm if and when the Tralee and Cahersiveen centres would become fully operational.
“We are still in the process of conducting a condition survey of all vehicle lifts in the NCT. This should be completed towards the end of this week. When completed, we will immediately begin a programme of repairing the remaining lifts within the network. We will provide regular updates as test centres come back into operation.”
The advice for customers is to continue to book and turn up for their NCT as normal.
