Feel good festive cheer was felt across the centre of town on Tuesday as children from one local school sang Christmas songs.

Pupils from Holy Cross Mercy School gathered outside The Laurels Pub on Main St and were warmly received by the public who gave so generously to their collection.

It’s an annual event for the children as a fundraiser for the Kenyan Project which the school strongly supports throughout the year, teacher Rhonda Healy explained.

“Every year we do a number of fundraisers for the Kenyan Project which is run by the Sheehy family in Killarney,” Rhonda told the Killarney Advertiser.

“Each teacher from Third to Sixth brought their class down on a rota to sing carols. We were bowled over by the generosity of the public. Breda Courtney Murphy, a teacher in our school, is our Mission Coordinator and our Principal Ursula Coffey is a big supporter of the Kenyan Project.”

The school also had the Memory Tree Mass in school on Wednesday which was very well attended, she added.
