Killarney Gardaí are clamping down on cyclists and drivers illegally using footpaths.
As a result of an increasing number of complaints from the public Gardai have already fined several cyclists for cycling on footpaths.
They will also clampdown on motorists that park on footpaths obstructing wheelchairs and pushchairs.
“Many of the complaints relate to cyclists forcing pedestrians onto the roadway,” said Sergeant Dermot O’Connell. “We are concentrating on the town centre, Park Road, Rock Road and the East Avenue Road.”
Last week, the Killarney Advertiser ran a story highlighting issues wheelchair users face as a result of illegally parked vehicles.
