Successful Killarney athletes will go forward to the county finals following a successful Killarney Community Games Athletics qualifiers at Killarney Community College last Friday evening.

The county finals will take place at An Riocht Athletic Club in Crageens, Castleisland on June 23 and 24.

“We had a very good night on Friday,” said organiser Billy Hennigan. “The turnout was great and we had lots of good races from U8 to U16. We are very hopeful of the boys U16 4x100 relay team. Our U14s won the national title two years ago, the first from Kerry to do this and they retained the title last year. Now many of the boys are in the U16 team and some of them are chasing three-in-a-row.”

This week, Mary and her daughter Mardia visited the club during a basketball training session, where Mary presented a cheque for €515, with further donations still to come.
Club members and coaches expressed their appreciation for the generous gesture, which will support ongoing training and activities for athletes. The visit ended on a high note when the athletes joined together to sing Happy Birthday to Mary, providing a memorable moment for all involved.
The Kerry Stars Special Olympics Sports Club thanked Mary, her family and friends for their support and wished her well following her birthday celebrations.
