Over 7,000 visitors are expected in Killarney tomorrow (Monday) as the town plays host to its third citizenship ceremony day.

2,500 people will formally become Irish citizens at three ceremonies taking place in the INEC on the day. The candidates will be accompanied by a further 4,500 people including family members and guests. The town previously hosted these auspicious ceremonies in May and November 2018.

Detailed traffic management plans will be in place to cater for this large influx of visitors. Free shuttle buses will operate from the bus and train station, as well as from Scotts Street, from 8am.

Hotel, guesthouse and bed and breakfast operators are asked to advise their guests to use the shuttle buses and leave their cars parked at their accommodation, as parking in the vicinity of the INEC, The Gleneagle and The Brehon will be limited. Traffic delays are anticipated so attendees are asked to allow extra travel time. Residents too are advised to allow extra time for journeys in and around Killarney, on Monday, April 29.

Registration for the first ceremony commences at 9.45am and the final ceremony will draw to a close at 4.45pm.
